Exercise equipment is for adults only

If you have been watching the news lately, you’re probably aware of the tragic death of Mike Tyson’s  4-year-old daughter.  Exodus Tyson was accidentally strangled while she was on her parents’ treadmill.  Her neck got tangled in the treadmill cord that hangs below the console.

I was stunned when I heard this.  I have a treadmill.  I have a 4-year-old granddaughter.  I have five grandchildren of different ages who come to visit.  I never thought of that piece of equipment as something potentially deadly but it is, as are other large pieces of equipment.  These machines are meant for adults, not for children.  Make sure your equipment is locked or secured in some way away from kids who want to practice being grown up.  Just as we need to be mindful of safe baby products, kitchen safety, under sink safety,-, we need to be sure to look at everything in the home as a source of temptation to our youngsters.
